"The handwriting may look familiar! We stayed last year and liked it so much, we decided to come back again this year too...
This time we brought re-enforcements in the shape of sister and her family, as well as grandparents, stepbrother etc. and took over three of the gites. Utterly recommend the whole extended family stay thing. We had huge, long family meals on the big tables in the mainhouse well into the night, with all of us set around talking and drinking. Excellent.
More cycle-riding this year, timing it just right for the Busserolles cycle-fest again and doing the 25km circuit. The 3 cycle race circuits (off-road) are still marked - white for 15km, red arrow for 25km and yellow for 40km. The red and yellow routes can be picked up by turning right at the gites drive and spotting the red and yellow posts within 100yds.
Same fantastic hosting by Jo & Ted again this year. Many thanks. Same problems persuading Sam (10yrs) to get out of the pool. Same excellent weather. Brilliant. We may return next year with even more family members!" Rob, Winchester, UK.

"Thank you so much for Ted and Jo for all the help and organisation! As a group of 4 families (8 adults & 9 kids) it wasn't easy to arrange everything. In fact just to get everybody on the same Ryanair flight was problem enough. We "pre-arranged" with Ted to go on canoe trip and to take the kids for a riding lesson. It was all sorted for us when we got here and all we had to do was to turn up at the agreed day and time, kids absolutely loved the canoeing! I think if we come again we would definately use the option of airport transfer and local transport so wouldn't have to hire cars, instead be driven to places by Ted!
Ted & Jo fed us on few evenings when we couldn't be bothered to cook (v.good! - try the hot smoked trout they do) and we also had the "mechoui" = the whole, spit roasted pig!!! It was fantastic. What a spectacle! We all can thoroughly recommend the holiday, the accommodation was great and we had everything we needed - and Jo & Ted were around so when we needed help with something or restaurants booking etc they would do it for us, but were never intrusive - perfect hosts really.
"Must" places to visit Brantome (canoe and pre-historic caves, ) Limoges porcelaine was a hit with the ladies as well as Angouleme shopping. For older kids there is also a really great outdoor karting ring which got us dads a bit excited....Also the market in Piegut was a great experience, the things you could buy there....And the boozy lunches we had...Thanks again for a great holiday, we'll see you again soon! " We have had a very enjoyable ten days here at l'etang Grolhier with our friends. Mixture of weather, but it hasn't stopped us doing anything. Thanks to Jo & Ted for making us very welcome and making sure we had everything we needed. Good luck with the future developments!" Steve, Sue & Richard

" Came here on Spillards recommendation & it was every bit as good as we expected. Ted & Jo were invaluable as "tour guides" and hosts - without them we would have wasted days finding out stuff. Weather was little warmer than the UK this week but gave us confortable nights and opportunity to do active stuff, such as cycling - on & off road.
Parc d'aventure at Lacs de haute Charente south of St Quentin de Charente amused me and the boys for a good afternoon - swinging throuhg the trees on an adventure rail (not cheap, but you can go around again and again - perfect for our agegroup 11+).
Market at Piegut and €10 lunch at Perigord Vert was greatly enjoyed as was canoeing in Brantome.
Well done to Ted & Jo for doing up these houses to such a high standard. I do know the work that goes into it!! Good luck for the future and I look forward to seeing the progress in years to come - especially the restored mill! Cheers, Steve & Gill"
